Using the Adobe Mobile Packager desktop application tool, you will be able to package your SWF file into a SIS and CAB file. On a mobile device, upon installing this SIS or CAB file, the Flash Lite 3.1 Distributable Player will be automatically installed if required.

Adobe Mobile Packager is available for download at Adobe Mobile & Devices web site.

You have to Sign the Adobe Distributable Flash Lite Player Prerelease program to have acces to the tool.

A free public beta of the solution will be launched at Mobile World Congress on February 16th 2009. The solution will support over-the-air downloads for consumers in the US, UK, Italy, Spain and India.

At launch, the solution will be supported on Adobe tested devices based on Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphones, Windows Mobile 6 Standard/Professional, S60 3rd Edition, S60 3rd Edition feature pack 1, and S60 3rd Edition feature pack 2 devices platforms. Adobe will certify additional devices over time, prioritizing the most popular devices for the above mentioned platforms.

Adobe Mobile Packager Installation

This Packager will only run on Windows XP and Vista (some issues could raise on Vista). Mac is not supported at this time.
Unzip the files onto a local drive, you should have AdobeMobilePackager.msi and setup.exe

Click on setup.exe, this should initiate the installation of the Adobe Mobile Packager.

Requirements:

All the links are also provided within the Mobile Packager application. You must install everything to be able to package an application.

CAB SDK installation

Windows XP

  • Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and click on Properties
  • Click on the Advanced Tab
  • Click on the Environment Variables Button
  • Click the New button under User Variables
  • Enter the name of the Variable as PATH
    Enter the location where CAB SDK is unpacked, specify the location until the BIN subfolder (e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Mobile Packager\cabsdk\bin if you unpacked in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Mobile Packager\cabsdk)
  • Click OK to create the variable
  • Close the Environment Variables dialog
  • Close the System Properties dialog

Vista

  • Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and click on Properties
  • Click on Windows Icon on task bar
  • Click on Control Panel. In Control Panel's search box at the top right, type env and click the Edit the system environment variables entry.
  • Click the Advanced tab and then the Environment Variables button.
  • Edit the PATH variable as on XP.
